A place to hang your hat….Stocking Hook

It is early Sunday morning, in the wee hours before daybreak, and I am sitting here thinking about a coat or hat.  Why?  Because it is cold here in Columbus, Ohio, an hour’s drive from the Big Basket, which is Longaberger headquarters.
I was also thinking about the coming holiday season
when we will start seeing an influx of guests in each of our homes. Rather you celebrate Thanksgiving (by the way, Happy Thanksgiving to my Canadian readers), Christmas, Halloween, or Hanukkah or even Kwanza, we have just 11 weeks until 2016 to make it work out. Do not worry about that for now.  What do you do with the extra coats, hats, scarves and gloves along the way?  If you live in warm climate, that is not a problem, but for the rest of us, what do you do, when you have an influx of 2 extra coats and a full coat closet?   Simple.
This little device right here à
It is called a stocking hook, but I call it a little helper.  Why?  Because you can hang an extra coat or even hats, or scarves on it.  It is not just for a stocking, and that’s not all.

I have a similar one that was sold by Longaberger a few years ago, and I stick my garbage bag on it, because I do not have the space for a garbage can in my galley kitchen, and galley kitchens can be quite small.  Another thing I use with my Woven traditions hook is I hang my clothes on the one in my bedroom (It was supposed to be for my bed clothes, but that is another story for another day.

So look outside the box, and just because the new hook has a snowflake on it instead of a leaf (the original WT hook), that does not mean it cannot be used all year long.

Harvest the Bounties of Fall - October 14 and 15

Fall is one of my favorite times of the year.  One reason is what I like to call, snuggle season.  You can get out your favorite blanket, snuggle by the fireplace or pit, if you are outdoors, and chat with family and friends. Fall nights are made for this.   I just thought of a cool idea for Halloween if you or your child do not like the traditional orange plastic pumpkin for a trick or treat bucket:

Take the today's special, which is this wonderfully cute fruit basket, and use it instead of the pumpkin bucket.   Once Trick or Treat night is over, your child can use this basket to hold all their little trinkets and treasures inside.  What makes even better is if the child does not want to use it, you can use it for a fall centerpiece in the middle of a table or on a shelf.   You will already have the basket, so why not use it for fall, Winter (holds gloves and hats), Spring (create a spring floral arrangement) or Summer (holds plastic cutlery for an outdoor table).   There are so many uses for this fruit basket.  since this is a returning product (for two days only), I have one, and I absolutely love mine.
Also available for this week is the Apple Basket, make its return debut as well.  The last time it made an appearance was last year in the fall.
  • Two great sizes make these baskets perfect for your apple picking adventures this Fall and beyond!
  • Our incredible Vintage stain makes a limited appearance as one of the 4 color choices for this special offer - with so many to pick from, you can coordinate these baskets with any decor!

October Brings Our Favorite Things

"Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens."
"Bright coppered kettles and warm woollen mittens."
"Brown papered packages tied up with strings."
"These are a few of our favorite things."
(from the Sound of Music by Oscar Hammerstein Lil Richard Rodgers (c) 1964)

Perhaps Maria Von Trapp was thinking of Longaberger when that song was sung back then (at least in the NBC version shown a few months ago), but Today's special is all about a few of Longaberger's favorite things, and I hope they become a favorite of yours too.

  • Incredible offers are available all month long to help make your holiday season merry and bright!
  • Ho Ho Ho! Santa Bellys are back and better - and bigger - than ever! Make your Christmas jolly with these great new baskets!

Longaberger Dessert Bowls … a “bowl” lot of uses!

(c) 2015 The Longaberger Company
Well, today is the first day of October, and it is time to start thinking about the holidays.  Starting today, I am going to highlight different products to help you during the holidays (NewHallowthankmas-there are many names of this hybrid of holidays).
Today’s product is not a new product, but a returning product.   It is part of the product line, and I love using this product because it is so versatile for everything.  They are called Little Dessert Bowls.  When Longaberger first came out with these little bowls, I immediately fell madly in love with them.  You will see in a moment why.
What I personally use them for?
First of all, I have been quite a connoisseur of all things sushi…well almost, but when I sushi at home, the soy sauce goes right the bowls.  They are deep enough to dip the sushi roll right in, without overflowing the bowl.  Next, I am also a crafter, who often craft with small items, like beads, pins, and small pieces of paper. I have seen them also used in workshops, nurseries, and bathrooms.  The list goes on...

-Great for controlled portions when dieting.
-A small amount of leftovers always tastes better if stored and served in a Longaberger Dessert Bowl!
-A prettier way to serve pats of butter and jam with your morning toast or muffin.
-Great for baby food.
-Fill with sprinkles and colored sugars and decorate your cookies in style.
-Perfect for dips and salsa.
-A great way to serve ice cream toppings in a dessert buffet.
-Bake brownies or chocolate chip cookie dough in your Dessert Bowl. Top with a scoop of ice cream and hot fudge … the perfect sundae.
-Put your Dessert Bowl in the freezer for 15 minutes before scooping ice cream. A great way to prevent “ice cream soup,” especially on hot summer days.
-Serve condiments at a BBQ
These versatile bowls are not just for food:
-Perfect for coloring Easter eggs.
-Place one by the kitchen sink and safely store your rings and watch while doing the dishes.
-Scatter several around the dinner table, fill with a little water, trim the stem off of a flower and “float” it in the dessert bowl. Imagine a white gardenia in a Paprika red bowl, a bright red gerbera daisy in a butternut Pewter bowl or Daisies in sage green bowls! So pretty!!!
-Looks fabulous with a votive candle as well!

Pineapple Upside Down Cake in the Dessert Bowls
1 box of yellow or pineapple cake mix
2 cans of pineapple ring slices (drain, saving juice as your water)
Maraschino Cherries drained
3/4 cup butter or margarine
1 1/2 cup brown sugar

Preheat oven to 350 degrees
-Spray dessert bowls with nonstick cooking spray and place on baking sheet. (Recipe makes 12 dessert bowl servings)
-Mix boxed yellow or pineapple cake mix according to direction except substitute the water with pineapple juice.
-Melt butter over heat in sauce pan & add brown sugar. Cook until well blended-- about 2 minutes
-Place 1 heaping Tbsp of butter mixture in the bottom of each dessert bowls. Any remaining brown sugar mix can be divided amongst the dessert bowls.
-Place one pineapple ring in each Longaberger Dessert Bowl and press down lightly, place one maraschino cherry in the center of each pineapple ring pressing down into the brown sugar mixture!
-Place a heaping 1/4 cup of the cake batter on top of each pineapple ring. Making sure the Pineapple ring is completely covered. Place any extra mix evenly amongst all the Dessert bowls, Bowls should be about 1/2 inch from the top rim.
-Place the Longaberger Dessert Bowls on a baking sheet in the oven and bake at 350 for about 30 - 35 minutes.
-Remove from oven and cool for 5 minutes then with a oven mitt or wash rag folded carefully turn over all the dessert bowls onto a Longaberger Cake Plate or each cake onto a Longaberger Bread Plate. If you turn over all the dishes allowing each one to set about a minute the mini cakes will come out easily.

October through December only! Set of 2 Small Dessert Bowls--only $20
Each dessert bowl has a capacity of 8 ounces. Sets are available in Paprika (red), Sage (green), Ivory, Eggplant (purple), Ebony (black) or NEW!  Pewter (gray)

Longaberger Pottery is vitrified … fired hot enough and long enough so that parts of the clay compound melt into glass, binding the entire piece together. Safe for use in the over, freezer, microwave, and dishwasher. Food stays hotter longer when it is baked and served in   Longaberger pottery.

They are almost too pretty to eat! Serve Warm or Cold! Enjoy!
